Welcome!

As you might have guessed, YA Romantic Fantasy is no longer an active blog.
However, in the meantime I have moved on to bigger and better things at…
Gwen & Kate’s Library (gwenkatelibrary.wordpress.com)
A blog I now share with my sister, where we review many more YA books, in more genres than just romantic fantasy! I encourage you to check it out!

“Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living” ~ Dr. Seuss

Welcome to the YA Romantic Fantasy blog!

What is romantic fantasy? Romantic fantasy is a genre under fantasy, which includes both fantasy and romance. It often takes place in the Middle Ages, which this site will focus on, but there are also modern romantic fantasies.

On this blog, I have recommendations for good romantic fantasy books, a page for recently published books, and a page for books that are coming out soon. I also have short story writing prompts and links to websites with good writing tips. This is all in my Short Stories page. Under Book Awards, I have the 2011-2012 list of Dorothy Canfield Fisher nominees (Don’t know what DCFs are? Click on it!), and the list of this year’s YA Romanic Fantasy Book Award (I made up my own book award!) nominees. Be sure to read some and vote for your favorite! I also have a new category called Resources which includes glossaries, interesting facts, and more about the Middle Ages to help you in your reading.

Key: Since not all of the books I talk about are young adult, I have a little symbol (*) that means the book is inappropriate because of violence or love scenes. If you see this symbol: * after a book title, it means that the book is for ages 12 and up. If it doesn’t have this, it might still be a young adult reading level, but it is appropriate for younger ages. (See my Young Readers Romantic Fantasy post for wonderful, and appropriate, books 🙂 Most romantic fantasies for younger readers end with “Lets kiss and then get married” “Okay!”)

Be sure to click on any links to an author’s Fantastic Fiction page! Fantastic Fiction is a great website I have found that lists all the books that an author has written. It is amazing how many authors are on that website. Check it out!

I also have many links to author’s websites so you can learn more about them and their books in their own words.

Have fun exploring and happy reading!
